In Memoriam: Aktion Pur Z

© Tomas Holcbecher

Renowed stallion Aktion Pur Z is no more. At the age of 26, the Ars Vivendi son passed away.

The sad news was announced by Stoeterij Zangersheide itself, where the stallion breathed his last in Lanaken on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Under Judy-Ann Melchior he managed to make his mark in the sport but later also proved himself in breeding as a strong sire.

Melchior introduced him to the international circuit as a 10-year-old stallion and impressed at the highest level right from the start. In 2008, for example, the pair debuted at five-star level at the 1m60 Grand Prix of Arezzo in Italy, where they immediately came second.

One of their memorable victories is undoubtedly the CSI5*-W Land Rover Masters during Jumping Mechelen, which they were able to add to their palmares in both 2006 and 2008. Until 2019, Aktion Pur Z was the only horse that managed to jump all Grand Prix of the Global Champions Tour clear in one season. He was named best horse of the GCT twice thanks in part to that performance.

In the spring of 2013, Melchior passed the reins to Tobias Thoenes, who brought him out actively for another four months. The winner of the Nations Cup in La Baule was used in breeding from 2012.

Thank you for the great sport and your legacy via your offsprings, Aktion Pur Z!
