A brand new Grand Prix champion will be crowned in Monaco

With the absence of USA's Richard Spooner, the reigning Grand Prix title holder and star of the Longines Global Champions Tour of Monaco, there will be a new Champion rising to the top of the podium ten days from now. With an incredible three Gold medals from this leg of the Tour since 2008, all won with the same horse Cristallo, Richard Spooner is a tough man to beat in the smallest arena on the Tour. The ony other rider to have made it onto the Monaco podium more than once is Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) when he took Brone in 2009 and 2011. With Spooner out of the running, the competition is blown wide open. Hot favourites include LGCT Cannes Grand Prix winner Scott Brash (GBR) on cracking form since Hamburg, Ranking Leader Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS), Luciana Diniz (POR) another rider to hit fine form in Cannes, and the ever-consistent Rolf-Goran Bengtsson (SWE).
