Jan Tops, Co-Founder GCL: “It’s not easy to build this quality of courses - out of 35 riders to not get too many clears, because the grand prix is a prestigious class, five to eight should normally be enough for a good grand prix, and I think he [Uliano Vezzani] did a great job. It’s not a big place, but the whole place was packed and there was a great atmosphere.”
Scott Brash, LGCT ranking leader: “Ursula jumped amazingly. Just that last fence was one fence too many today. If I was to ride it again, I’d maybe have held her off the front bar a bit more, but I was delighted with her.”
Darragh Kenny, 3rd place: “I felt super about my horse, he jumped brilliantly today. I was a bit disappointed about how I rode the jump-off; I think I could have played it a little bit safer at the last and made the others have to catch me, but Edwina is so fast anyway and Bassem was super [to win] in Doha too, so I thought I had to go a bit quick and unfortunately had the last jump down. I’ve had him about six months and I think he’s going to be a very good horse.”
