Third time's a charm! Boyd Exell wins World Cup Driving Lyon

Not one, not two, but THREE wins in a row for Boyd Exell in the CAI-W competition. Just like yesterday, the top three also consisted of Exell, Chardon and de Ronde, with an unparalleled gold result from the reigning World Champion!

The gold went to Boyd Excell for a third (!) time in a row with his four-in-hand consisting of Bajnok, Maestoso Jupiter, Mad Max, and Barny. Excell dropped one ball during the first round, but due to his fast time the Australian still managed to qualify for the drive off. IJsbrand Chardon and Koos de Ronde also put in a drive-off-worthy result, which meant that yesterday's top three had to fight it out here in a second round.

None of the finalists made any mistakes during this drive off, making the chrono even more decisive. In the end, yesterday's top three proved to be the same as today's, with Boyd Excell (assisted by Emma Olsson and Hugh Scott-Barett) taking the gold in a time of 140.82 seconds. The team of IJsbrand Chardon (grooms: Edith Cardon and Chris van Rooij) needed just under five seconds more, and took the silver with 145.79 seconds on the chrono. Koos de Ronde (grooms: Marie de Ronde-Oudemans and Martin Beenhakker) clocked in at 150.08 seconds and received the bronze.
