Riders taking part in this year’s British Eventing Mark Todd Bridging the Gap Training Programme can now apply for the 2017 Scholarship. The lucky winner of the BE Mark Todd Bridging the Gap Scholarship – that runs through the 2018 season - will win training and mentoring from Sir Mark Todd, plus £3,000 worth of product sponsorship from the Mark Todd Collection and Keyflow Feeds. The training programme provides opportunities for riders aiming to move into Advanced or 2* competition, or who are working towards a more established 3* level and was initiated by experienced BE Coach, Gill Watson MBE FBHS and Lizzel Winter FBHS. The BE Mark Todd Bridging the Gap Training Programme (which also includes free course walks and coaching support at key events) has become hugely popular since its launch in 2013 and continues to grow. The Scholarship is the culmination of the training programme hosted throughout 2017 where participants of at least one training session are then invited to apply for the final selection day, this year taking place on Monday 25th September. The Scholarship final sees a shortlist of applicants take part in a dressage and jumping session in front of Sir Mark Todd and both Lizzel and Gill as well as an unmounted interview with representatives from The Mark Todd Collection and Keyflow feeds. Previous winners have included National Lottery funded World Class Podium Potential Programme athlete Franky Reid-Warrilow (2013), CCI4* event rider and Belton International 2016 CIC2* winner Tim Cheffings (2015) and CCI3* rider and 2016 Smith & Williamson Intermediate Champion Alexander Whewall (2016).
