Belton Park International kicks off the 2017 Britannia League

The Belton Park International CIC3* this year got the 2017 Britannia League underway at the beginning of April with Alexander Bragg and Sally B Ellicott’s Zagreb leading the way with 10 BE points. Established in 2014 by long-term BE supporter Nigella Hall, the league uses BE points accrued at UK 3* events and FEI Nations Cup fixtures for British riders who have not competed at a FEI European Championships, World Equestrians Games or Olympic Games. Alexander’s top ten finish at the Belton Park CIC3* in section M saw him and the 13 year old gelding take home 10 points to head the table at this early point in the season. With just one 3* event completed so far, five combinations currently hold joint second place all taking home eight BE points from their respective CIC3* sections; Flora Harris (Caroline Harris and Rebecca Salt’s Bayano), Franky Reid-Warrilow (Nicole Thomas’ With Love, and her own Dolley Whisper), Sarah Parkes (Balladeer Durban Hills, owned by Sue parkes) and Tom Crisp (The Swift Syndicate’s Coolys Luxuary). Willa Newton and Mr Peter Thomas and Ms Feena Machin’s Chance Remark complete the table in seventh place with five BE points. The winning owner and rider of the 2017 Britannia League will each receive at BE membership for 2018 and a 2018 season ticket for the winning horse. The Owner of the leading horse will also be presented with a beautiful bronze trophy, thanks to Nigella Hall. The Barefoot Estates Burnham Market International (1) gives riders their second opportunity to pick up points this weekend in their CIC3* sections which run from 13th – 15th April.
