The Italian city Montelibretti was the home ground for the European Youth Championships for eventers. Junior and Young riders from all over Europe travelled to Italy to show what they're worth.
In the juniors classes, it was Germany that won the gold medaille. The team consisting of Emma Brüssau, Johanna Zantop, Jerome Robine and Anais Neumann took the lead after the dressage test and managed to keep their first place in the cross and jumping competition. All German riders rode a clear cross country. In the jumping class Brüssau (Donnerstag 20) and Neumann (Pumuckel E) did it clear again. Robine got 12 faults with Guccimo R, Zantop got and FBW Santana’s Boy got one jumping penalty and one for time but that didn’t keep the German team from winning the gold medal.
The silver medal was for the French team. Romain Sans (Enzo van't Vennehof), Heloise Le Guern (Orage De Longuenee Ene HN), Julie Simonet (Sursumcord'Or) and Victor Levecque (Phunabule Des Auges) got a team total of 143,50 points. The accomplishment was enough for the second overall spot. On third place was Great Britain. Isabelle Upton (Eros DHI), Phoebe Locke (Union Fortunus), Richard Coney (Kananaskis) and Felicity Collins (RSH Contend Or) ended on 159,10 points.
With the Young Riders it was the French team that took the gold medal.Thais Meheust didn’t start Quamilha in the jumping competition anymore, but that didn’t keep the other team members from winning. Victor Burtin (Early van ter Niewbeke), Alexis Goury (Trompe L'Oeil D'Emery) and Marie Charlotte Fuss (Sillas De La Nee) rode a good jumping round which resulted in a beautiful first place for the French team.
Germany started the last day as the favorite since they were still in the lead after the cross country. Unfortunately Tina Krüger (Dolce Mia), Hanna Knüppel (Carismo 22) and Marie-Sophie Arnold (Remeber Me 74) didn’t jump their best rounds today, so they had to settle for the silver medal. Flora Reemtsma and Ikarosz chose not to start in the jumping competition anymore. The Italian team consisting of Ludovica Manzoli (Pin Up De Mai), Luca Mezzaroba (Laomaco), Giulio Gugliemi (Mister Brightside) and Fosco Girardi (Feldheger) completed the podium.
