Ireland’s GAIN Horse Feeds Young Rider (U21) Eventing team won the Team Gold medal at the European Championships today in Portugal. The team of Elizabeth Hayden, Josh Pim, Jodie O’Keeffe and Harold Megahey saw off a determined challenge from the German team with Great Britain in 3rd. Elizabeth Hayden also won the individual bronze medal with her Irish bred horse Miracle. Harold Megahey with Chuckelberry finished 4th individually with Josh Pim and the Irish Minstrel 9th. The Irish Team Manager was Sally Corscadden with Dressage Coach Heike Holstein, Show Jumping Coach Ian Fearon and team vet Will Lalor. Irish individual riders Tony Kennedy and Jennifer Diamond also performed strongly finishing 13th and 14th respectively. Speaking after the win Team Manager Sally Corscadden said: ” It’s been a fantastic week in very tough weather conditions and I’m very proud of the riders battling all week. All 6 riders were absolutely brilliant. We have a brilliant support team Ian, Heike, Will, professional grooms and fantastic parents. All our plans came together, the athletes rode confidently and rode to orders with very tough ground conditions. We are absolutely delighted, it’s fantastic”.
