British Eventing (BE) is updating its body protector rules starting from 2018. BE revealed that from 1 January 2018, body protectors with the BETA 2000 level three label will not be allowed at competition anymore. Only BETA 2009 protectors or any later revisions can be worn. The decision is a consequence of a similar decision made by the Pony Club. The Pony Club already updated their rules on body protectors earlier this year. “Following discussions with the BE risk management committee and advice from BETA (British Equestrian Trade Association), body protectors with this 2000 label will not be allowed for use at BE competitions from 1st January 2018," British Eventing states. The riders have already been updated about this new rule.
