Julien Epaillard: "We went to the extreme but had luck at our side..."

Last weekend Julien Epaillard shocked the international jumping community as he won about any main class in Lyon. "A weekend like this we never expected. It is exceptional I managed to perform like this. If you have a weekend like this you just have to savor it."

The French showjumping rider explains a bit the feeling of his successful weekend. "On Sunday I knew I had to risk it al in the Jump-Off as Marlon (Marlon Modolo Zanotelli, red.) was still after me," states Epaillard. "The most difficult on Sunday was the double vertical combination. I must admit I was a bit lucky there. I had the luck on my side as I took a lot of risks in this course."

"My horse, Caracole will now enjoy a short rest period and we will focus for Madrid. My main focus on the long term is Paris 2024, for which I prepare Donatello."
