Robert Whitakers 18 year old Catwalk IV may retire

Robert Whitaker's successful horse, Catwalk IV (Colman x Corleone) is officially leaving the sport. They announced this themselves on his Facebook page. "We have made our decision to retire Catwalk IV at the age of 18. With countless victories, Nations Cups, World Cups and five-star performances, he is easily one of the best horses Rob has had the privilege of riding," the Facebook page reads.

Robert Whitaker has been active on the world stage with Catwalk since 2011. The Holsteiner came from the stables of Steve Guerdat. Whitaker and Catwalk rode to some 23 victories and achieved numerous top ten finishes. The Colman son proved himself a very versatile jumper, winning Puissances, 6 Bars and 5* Grand Prix and World Cups. He was on the British Nations Cup team a few times and jumped in just about every track in the world.

Whitaker himself says on Facebook: "Catwalk is part of the family, he owes us nothing. He has taught me so much in the last ten years, we went through some difficult periods but also had a lot of success. It was important to us that he was able to finish his career healthy at the top of his abilities. We are happy that Catwalk can retire here at home and enjoy his well-deserved rest. Thank you Catwalk!"
