A total of ten combinations qualified for the Jump-Off in the 1.55m CSI4* main class in Gijon. The fastest time was set by Abdullah Alsharbatly and his 15-year-old KWPN-sire, Ermindo W. Aboard the stallion, bred by Dutch A.P. De Wit, the Saudi-Arabian showjumper advanced on Ireland's Billy Twomey.
"This is my second show with Ermindo W." Alsharbatly says. "He's a superstar.... Ermindo W is just amazing. He won this difficult class... happy to be teamed up with him! I'm expecting to win a lot of Grand Prix's with him in the future. Thank you to Jose and Matias Larocca for selling this amazing horse to me..."
Alsharbatly and Matias Larocca's former Singapore son remained well ahead of Billy Twomey and Chat Botte E.D. (Casall, breeder: Andre Vandepapeliere). Pedro Veniss secured an international top three in the saddle of Eric Polfliet's bred, Nimrod de Muze Imperio Egipcio (Nabab de Rêve).
Veniss and the 11-year-old Zangersheide stallion thus relegated Robert Whitaker with Vermento (Argento) to fourth place. William Fletcher followed in fifth place with the 11-year-old KWPN mare, Iwalinde (VDL Zirocco Blue).
