The opening qualifier for the Rolex Grand Prix at the Falsterbo Horse Show produced a thrilling battle against the clock. Germany's Andre Thieme emerged on top with DSP Chakaria, while Ireland claimed three of the top five placings.
Andre Thieme opened his Falsterbo campaign in perfect fashion by securing victory aboard DSP Chakaria (Chap 47). The German combination produced the fastest faultless round of the day, crossing the finish in 61.72 seconds to claim top honours.
Jordan Coyle came closest to denying Thieme the win. Riding King Kannan GP (Kannan), the Irish rider also left every fence intact but stopped the clock in 62.11 seconds, finishing just 0.39 seconds behind the winners. France's Kevin Staut completed the podium after guiding Hermes de Vesquerie (Vigo d'Arsouilles) to a clear round in 62.88 seconds.
Ireland continued its strong showing just outside the podium places. Shane Sweetnam piloted James Kann Cruz (Kannan) to fourth place with a clear effort in 63.57 seconds, while Trevor Breen rounded out the top five aboard Konrad Obolensky (Cornet Obolensky), also fault-free in 63.69 seconds.
