British Olympic medalist Ben Maher, along with Point Break (breeder: Nya Appelvikens Ridskola), is competing as the 27th rider in today's Longines FEI World Cup Finals—an incredible feat, considering Maher broke his foot just last week!
Last week, Maher still managed to claim victory in the United States. In Wellington, he left the competition behind during the Winter Equestrian Festival—all while riding with a broken foot. "I broke my foot in a non-horse-related accident," the show jumper told the editors of Horse & Hound.
"I was opening the back of my car when a heavy machine fell on my foot," said Maher, whose broken bones are well-aligned. He is wearing a riding boot with a supportive synthetic sole, allowing him to participate in the competition.
