British show jumper William Fletcher has suffered a severe injury during the competition in Hickstead. Last week, Fletcher fell, breaking his leg in three places and dislocating his ankle, as the rider himself shared in a post on Instagram.
The injuries are serious enough to abruptly end his season. Fletcher indicated that he will have to miss the ring for the coming months, as he is scheduled to undergo surgery soon. The exact date of the operation has already been set: it is planned for next week.
Fletcher expressed his deep gratitude to the many people who supported him over the past week. He gave special thanks to Eefie, Will, Ryan, and Carmen, who accompanied him to the hospital and made the long wait more bearable. Despite the setback, he looks ahead with hope, aiming to come back stronger next year together with his “super team of horses.”
