Having previously launched the Longines Masters and played a key role in the evolution of show jumping, Belgium’s Christophe Ameeuw is now introducing a new concept. Inspired by Formula 1, he aims to launch the Grand Prix de Paris at the end of this year. “A legendary competition where the world’s top 40 riders will compete in a Grand Prix with €1,000,000 in prize money!” Ameeuw explains.
A Formula 1-Inspired Concept
"The concept is inspired by the world of Formula 1 and its qualifying sessions. A timed course will determine the starting order for the final Grand Prix," says the Belgian. "The event will be enhanced with stunning visual effects and will combine top-level sport with an immersive experience. International artists will also perform!"
A Long-Term Vision
Ameeuw sees this as more than just a one-time event. "I want to make the sport more accessible and bring an adrenaline rush not only to the competing riders but also to everyone watching the Grand Prix! This is a long-term project..."
"From the very beginning (with the Longines Masters, editor’s note), our ambition has been to elevate our sport and give it the recognition it deserves as one of the world’s premier disciplines. Today, we are taking a decisive step forward. This new event will transform show jumping into an unprecedented experience, merging elite performance, spectacle, and innovation like never before," concludes Ameeuw.
