Dutch show jumping coach Jos Lansink has revealed the combinations that will compete in the final of the Longines League of Nations. The final of this prestigious team jumping competition will take place on October 6th in Barcelona.
Lansink is taking his Olympic team to Barcelona and has also called up Lars Kersten and Kevin Jochems. Lansink commented on the competition in Barcelona: "We have a strong team and are looking forward to the final. We would like to erase the bitter taste of fourth place in Paris."
The following riders and horses will compete in Barcelona. The final selection of the four combinations for the team will be made in Barcelona.
Harrie Smolders (Lage Mierde) – Uricas van de Kattevennen and Mr. Tac
Maikel van der Vleuten (Someren) – Beauville Z N.O.P. and O’Bailley vh Brouwershof N.O.P.
Kim Emmen (Raamsdonk) – Imagine and Island
Lars Kersten (Egchel) – Chuck Marienshof Z and Funky Fred vh Marienshof
Kevin Jochems (Kalmthout) – Camilla van de Helle and Name It
The final of the Longines League of Nations will be contested in the same format as the preliminary rounds. This means that four combinations will start in the first round, with the worst result being discarded, and three combinations will start in the second round, with all three results counting. If more than one country has the same number of penalty points in first place after two rounds, a jump-off will follow in which one combination per country will start.
