In Vienna, the Longines Global Champions Tour got underway with the GCL Individual Competition, a 1.60m competition against the clock that also served as a qualifier for the LGCT Grand Prix. Efe Siyahi claimed victory with Cantate, while Thibault Philippaerts was the best Belgian rider, finishing fifth with Lyandro MDB.
Efe Siyahi delivered the winning performance aboard Cantate (Corlensky G). The Turkish rider produced a clear round in 72.87 seconds, finishing ahead of Brazil's Eduardo Pereira de Menezes, who also jumped clear with H5 Ozzy vd Bisschop (Diamant de Semilly) in 74.52 seconds.
Third place went to Zascha Nygaard. The Danish rider kept Dialoubet Blue PS (Diaron) clear and crossed the finish line in 75.46 seconds. Bianca Babanitz completed another clear round with I Will Be Famous (Bubalu VDL). The Austrian stopped the clock at 77.36 seconds, securing fourth place.
Thibault Philippaerts was the best-placed Belgian in fifth. Riding Lyandro MDB (Grand Slam), he incurred four faults but posted the fastest time of the entire field, 69.88 seconds, enough to secure a place in the top five.
