On Monday, top German rider Marcus Ehning announced the passing of his former Grand Prix horse, Sabrina (Sandro Boy x Landadel). The mare reached the age of 27. "It saddens us to report that a new star is shining in the sky..." Ehning wrote.
"Sabrina left us at 27 years old. She enjoyed her retirement after a fantastic sporting career. The mare won seven Grand Prix events and made her mark at various international competitions," Ehning continued. "We are honored to have offspring and even great-grandchildren from this fantastic mare. Farewell, champion!"
In 2015, the daughter of Sandro Boy retired from competitive sport. Prior to that, with Ehning in the saddle, she competed in the 2011 and 2012 FEI World Cup Finals in Leipzig and 's-Hertogenbosch. The pair won the Grand Prix events of London, Bordeaux, Paris, and Dortmund, among others.
Our team wishes Team Ehning and everyone who was connected to this mare much strength during this time.
