Under the brilliant floodlights of the Al Shaqab arena, Kristen Vanderveen (USA) stamped her authority on the CSI5* 1.50m Main Class. In a contest that demanded both raw speed and meticulous care, Vanderveen and her rising star Starbucks 27 left the field in their wake to claim a prestigious victory in Doha.
Kristen Vanderveen and the 10-year-old Holsteiner gelding, Starbucks 27 (Stakkato), stopped the clock at a rapid 71.31 seconds. The gelding, a son of the legendary Stakkato out of a Colman mare, showed exactly why he is considered one of the most exciting prospects in Vanderveen’s string. His natural blood and jumping intelligence allowed him to shave seconds off the corners without risking a rail.
Austria’s Gerfried Puck secured the runner-up spot with the powerful BWP elite stallion Equitron Naxcel V (Balou du Rouet x Landetto). Bred by Leo Vermeiren, the chestnut stallion showcased his signature scope, finishing clear in 72.95 seconds. While a brilliant effort, it wasn't quite enough to catch the blistering pace set by the American.
Jordan’s Nasouh Kayali claimed the third step on the podium aboard Kamacho P.S. (by Emir R). The 11-year-old KWPN gelding, out of a Numero Uno dam, delivered a precise and rhythmic performance to finish clear in 77.24 seconds.
