In the 1.55m Grand Prix of the Versilia Horse Show, a strong field of competitors lined up at the start. After an eight-horse jump-off, Giulia Martingengo Marquet claimed victory on home soil with the 10-year-old Zangersheide gelding, Captain Morgan Weering Z (breeder: R. Lanting).
Marquet and the 10-year-old Zangersheide son of Carrera VDL, Captain Morgan Weering Z, jumped to victory in the 1.55m Grand Prix in a time of 43.32 seconds. The pair narrowly beat Aurelien Leroy with the 16-year-old Selle Français mare, Vendome d'Ick (Arko III). Belgian rider Celine Schoonbroodt completed the podium.
Schoonbroodt finished third riding Clinto T Z (Clintissimo), bred by Rudi Tans. The slowest clear round came from Anastasia Nielsen, who just missed the podium with Franco 79 (Firth of Lorne).
Swiss rider Martin Fuchs rounded out the top five. With one jumping fault, Fuchs and L&L Lorde (Clyde LVB Z) edged out Harrie Smolders and Mr. Tad (Non Stop).
