This afternoon, the final World Cup leg of the Western European League is scheduled to take place in Gothenburg. The final day in the Swedish city started with a 1.45m CSI5* class. In this timed competition, Harrie Smolders claimed victory with his 12-year-old SF mare, Deesse de Kerglenn(breeder: Alain Richard).
Smolders and his own 12-year-old daughter of Mylord Carthago* Hn narrowly stayed ahead of Douglas Lindelöw and the 16-year-old Cheldon (Chacco-Blue) in this timed class. Riding the gelding bred by Paul Schockemöhle, the Swede was just over a second faster than Willem Greve and the 12-year-old KWPN stallion, Impian D (VDL Bubalu). Greve recently made his CSI5 debut with the stallion in Bordeaux.
The combination kept Robin Naeve off the podium. The German rider followed with the 14-year-old Casalia R (Casall), while Maikel van der Vleuten continued the Dutch success. Van der Vleuten completed the top five aboard the 13-year-old AES mare, Elwikke (Eldorado vd Zeshoek).
