Harrie Smolders and the Belgian horse Mr. Tac (Non Stop) jumped to victory this afternoon in the CSI5* 1.55m in Hamburg! The duo delivered a clear round in a thrilling jump-off, clocking a time of 42.98 seconds, which ultimately proved fast enough for the win!
Sixteen combinations lined up for this nail-biting CSI5* competition in Hamburg. Seven of them managed to jump clear, but none could match the speed of Dutch rider Harrie Smolders! Smolders clinched the win with a time of 42.98 seconds, riding the BWP gelding Mr. Tac (Non Stop x Toulon, breeder: Edmond Meyers). German rider Jana Wargers—who recently announced that she and her team will be relocating back to her home country—secured an impressive second place with the 16-year-old Dorette OLD (Dollar du Murier). Fellow countryman Harm Lahde completed the podium aboard Oak Grove’s Commander Bond, a son of Comme Il Faut.
Just off the podium, both Andreas Schou and David Simpson also delivered clear rounds in the tense jump-off. Schou took fifth riding the 11-year-old Billy Matador (Billy Mexico), while Simpson rounded out the top five with the BWP gelding Pjotr van de Kruishoeve (Bamako de Muze).
