Guerdat revealed that he has been struggling with his health for some time. "It’s nothing serious, but my body needs time to recover. Just before Christmas, I underwent a successful surgery on my meniscus. Last Tuesday, I had to undergo emergency surgery due to a hernia. My ambition to compete in the Rolex Grand Slam events and to qualify for the World Cup Final in Basel pushed me a bit too far. My passion took over from my reason," the Swiss rider explained.

"Unfortunately, my doctors have made it clear today that it is unthinkable for me to be back in the saddle in the coming weeks. My body needs time to recover. This is a huge setback, especially after all the effort we have put in as a team this season."

Still, Guerdat remains positive. "I realize that I live a privileged life. My horses, my sport, and my family make me the happiest man in the world... see you soon!"

We wish Steve a speedy recovery!
