It was announced on January 28th of this year that Henrik von Eckermann was one of the recipients of H.M. The King's Medal for merits within Swedish sports. The formal ceremony was held on Wednesday, where the medal was presented personally by King Carl XVI Gustaf.

Henrik von Eckermann holds one of the most impressive track records in Swedish equestrian sports. Among his top achievements are individual World Championship gold, team gold at the Olympics, World Championships, and European Championships, as well as two victories in the World Cup Final.

H.M. The King's Medal is awarded to Swedish citizens who have made significant contributions in various fields, and since 2018, athletes can also be awarded the medal for outstanding achievements. Among this year's other recipients are several major names in Swedish sports.

Equestrian figures have also been recognized with the medal previously, such as Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and Malin Baryard Johnsson.
