This week it is time for the annual gathering in Lyon, in the south of France. During Equita Lyon, the spotlight is not only on international show jumping. Nineteen countries are represented at the start, ready to gather World Cup points.
Reigning World Champion Steve Guerdat (SUI) will be competing. "I have been competing in Lyon every year since 2008," says the 44-year-old Swiss rider. "I cherish many great memories of Lyon. Winning is the goal—I've come close many times, but I haven't succeeded yet! After winning the World title, I do feel a lot lighter and I'm simply enjoying every moment..."
The start list features the world's elite, including Kevin Staut (FRA), Nina Mallevaey (FRA), Ben Maher (GBR), Daniel Deusser (GER), Julien Epaillard (FRA), Richard Vogel (GER), Martin Fuchs (SUI), Thibeau Spits (BEL), Piergiorgio Bucci (ITA) (who is making his comeback after breaking his foot earlier this season), Petronella Andersson (SWE), and Willem Greve (NED).
