Since 2020, there has been no edition of the international jumping competition in Liège. The COVID-19 crisis marked the end of the CSI4*, CSI2*, and CSIYH competitions. Five years later, the official return is (finally) on the calendar after a test edition in 2024.
Last year, a test edition was held in Liège, mainly featuring community and regional competitions. "We organized this edition to identify key areas for improvement ahead of the international competition," it was stated. "For example, we now know that the warm-up arena needs to be more spacious and that the overall setup can be adjusted."
In the past, the international competition in Liège took place at the same time as Equita Lyon, a CSI5* event with an FEI World Cup stage. "We want to establish ourselves on the map with an impressive lineup of show jumpers. That’s why we’ve chosen to organize the event earlier in the year."
