‘It's going to be very exciting after seeing those points! We are so happy to be on the podium today. We're going to fight until the end!’: Cannes Stars leap to Gold at the GCL in Rome!

That were the Cannes Stars with Sophie Hinners and Katrin Eckermann as riders. Eckermann saddled Iron Dames Dialou Blue PS (Diarado's Boy) for the second round, while Hinners chose Iron Dames Combella (Cornet du Lys) to ultimately jump to victory.

Sophie: "It's going to be very exciting after seeing those scores! We are so happy to be on the podium today. We are going to fight until the end! I hope Valkenswaard is watching us, but they are so strong and I think they will try to dominate until the end. We always feel a lot of support, we already received a lot of messages after the first round saying we had ridden beautifully. The group chat is currently exploding, I can feel it in my pocket! Combella is a really great horse, to do this for me already, after such a short time together, is really fantastic. I'll be back in Riyadh, but in Rabat other riders will be competing."

Katrin: "Sometimes it's easy, but sometimes you make the wrong choices and that's what made it a bit more difficult for us this season. In the last few competitions, we came back into the race and now we are even tied for first place with Valkenswaard United! It's great that I can start two horses here over the two rounds. I think the owners, who are here, will also be very happy."

Doha Falcons in second place

The silver was won by the Doha Falcons. Sheikh Ali Khalid Al Thani took Com'on Stanley (Stakkato) out of the stable and jumped with him in a very fast time of 77.14 seconds. Bassem Mohammed also put in a very impressive round on the back of Rocket Man (Mylord Carthago HN). ‘It was fantastic to be on the podium, we are fighting for more.’

Paris Panthers claim bronze

The Paris Panthers completed the podium thanks to Clara Pezzoli in the saddle of Fantasia de Beaufour (Contendro I) and Guido Grimaldi who relied on Gentleman (Vigo d'Arsouilles).

Clara: ‘I am so happy! For me, it was truly magical today! We are planning for Riyadh, but in Rabat, Giulio will have a different teammate.’

Guido: ‘Today there was a magical atmosphere here in Rome, our home. The level is so high and to be able to shine here is really amazing. We just can't give up! I will be competing in Rabat with two great horses.’
