Eleven combinations qualified for the jump-off in the 1.60m CSI5* Grand Prix in Doha, Qatar. In the Al Shaqab stadium, Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmerman ultimately claimed victory with the Belgian-bred Messi van 't Ruytershof (breeder: Stal 't Ruytershof / Bert Van den Branden).
Riding Kurt De Clercq's former BWP gelding, Messi van 't Ruytershof (Plot Blue), the German rider secured a narrow Grand Prix win. The pair finished in 42.54 seconds, staying just a few tenths of a second ahead of Khaled Almobty and the 10-year-old Zangersheide mare, Diana du Plevau Z (Dieu Merci van T&L). With a faultless finish in 42.91 seconds, the Saudi Arabian rider pushed Antoine Ermann with SF gelding Floyd des Pres (Vigo Cece) into third place.
Also jumping clear, British rider Millie Allen finished in fourth place. She rode Karel Cox’s Zangersheide mare, E-Maitresse TVH Z (Emerald) ahead of Torben Köhlbrandt and the 11-year-old Mastermind RL, a son of Mylord Carthago*HN. Only these top five managed to complete a double clear round!
