Under the radiant Moroccan sun, the Grand Theatre Rabat provided a picture-perfect stage where history met modernity and the ambitions of the Kingdom of Morocco shone through. Returning for its second year after an incredible debut in 2024, the Longines Global Champions Tour once again brought the world’s best riders to the heart of Morocco’s capital for Stage 15 of the 2025 Championship - continuing the legacy of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture.

A sold-out crowd filled the grandstands, their cheers echoing through the sweeping arena as the world’s best combinations delivered breathtaking performances beneath the clear blue sky. The sunshine, energy, and hospitality of Rabat created a uniquely electric atmosphere as the five-star competition got underway.

Speaking after her win, Janne reflected – “Iron Dames High Level just jumped incredible today. We took a risk and left out a stride to the last, but it worked out just fine.”

She went on to add, “It is great to be back here in Rabat and to win here is just amazing. We feel very welcome here and everyone is just so friendly.”

Uliano Vezzani’s course demanded precision, rhythm, and focus. With its flowing lines and subtle technical questions, it proved a challenge that rewarded bravery and punished hesitation. Many of the sport’s leading names – including Simon Delestre, Nathalie Dean, Wilm Vermeir, and Antoine Ermann – were caught out by a single rail, leaving them just outside the jump-off cut.

Ten combinations advanced to the deciding round, and the atmosphere only intensified. First to return, Austria’s Katharina Rhomberg and Cuma 5 set the standard with a sharp, fluid round in 39.53 seconds, showing the course could be mastered with courage and efficiency. Great Britain’s Scott Brash and the charismatic Hello Mango came close but couldn’t quite match the time after a check to the final line.

Belgium’s Jérôme Guéry and the ever-reliable Careca LS Elite followed, producing a bold, attacking round that saw him briefly take the lead, flat out to the last fence and stopping the clock at 39.33 seconds. Sara Vingralkova and Rock’n Roll MXL were next, an early rail costing them dearly as they added four faults to the board despite an otherwise smooth and forward ride.

Germany’s Marco Kutscher and Aventador S also looked to be on pace before one fence down dashed their hopes of a top placing. Then came fellow German Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and Iron Dames High Level, who entered the ring with determination and precision, cutting tight lines and finding perfect take-offs to shave over two seconds from the leading time with a remarkable 37.18. The crowd erupted as she soared into the lead.

Christian Ahlmann and D’Aganix 2000 Z came closest, crossing the finish in 38.43 to secure the runner-up position, while Sweden’s Peder Fredricson and SV Vroom de la Pomme Z, last to go, delivered another double clear for third. Denis Lynch and Brooklyn Heights added yet another solid clear to their record to round out the top six in style.

It was a win built on instinct, and an undeniable connection – an early highlight in what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of top sport in Rabat. As the sun dipped behind the city’s skyline, the arena buzzed with excitement, fans lingering to celebrate a day that perfectly captured the spirit of the Longines Global Champions Tour’s return to Morocco’s capital.

All eyes now turn to tomorrow’s main event, the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Rabat, which takes centre stage at 13:15 local time. With the championship reaching its decisive stages and only two stops remaining before the Finals in Riyadh, the stakes could not be higher. Under the Moroccan sun, the world’s best will once again face off for precious points, glory, and the chance to claim the final golden moments of the 2025 season.
