The technical 1.55m track tested the international field, but five horse-and-rider combinations managed to produce double-clear rounds. Burke and Fly for You, bred by M Jean-Marie Soupasse, set an unbeatable standard in the jump-off, crossing the timers in a blistering 34.56 seconds to seal the win.

Germany's Jens Wawrauschek mounted a strong challenge aboard Mava S (v. Messenger x Sandro), an 11-year-old mare bred by Bern Schiele Gbr. Wawrauschek stopped the clock in 35.34 seconds to secure the runner-up position.

"It's my first time at the Sunshine Tour at this period," Jens Wawrauschek says after his podium placing. "When you have a horse like Mava S, you can start at any show with confidence, and just wait for the jumps to come. My mare felt really motivated today, I might have ridden a bit to slow for the win, but I'm really happy."

"I've got her since her seven years of age. Last year she already won a 1.50m class and this year we already placed in a 1.60m Grand Prix already, which is really unbelievable. Her mindset really makes the difference and makes her the tophorse she is!"

Irish momentum continued on the podium as Francis Derwin guided the 13-year-old gelding Flexi K (v. Flex A Bill x Luidam), bred by Knightfield Stud, into third place with a clean effort in 35.36 seconds.  France's Cedric Angot placed fourth with Harmony de Grandry (v. Lifestyle x Mylord Carthago), picking up four faults in the jump-off in 35.37 seconds. USA's Adam Prudent rounded out the top five aboard Karnak du Roset (v. Kannan x Tlaloc M), also posting a four-fault jump-off round in 36.58 seconds.
