Jessica Burke and Good Star du Bary (Rock'n Roll Semilly x Oberon du Moulin) were the breakout stars of the recent World Cup qualifier in Bordeaux. Now, the Irish rider must say goodbye to her top horse, as she announced today on her social media channels.
She wished the Selle Français gelding with the "lion heart" the best of luck at his new stable, though she did not reveal exactly where that will be. Back in February, the grey propelled his rider to her first-ever five-star World Cup victory in Bordeaux. That win secured them a spot at the World Cup Final in Texas - another debut for both horse and rider. It has now turned out to be their final international appearance together.
A Dream Career
Good Star du Bary is a ten-year-old Selle Français son of Rock’n Roll Semilly x Oberon du Moulin. Burke began riding the grey when he was seven and produced him herself. That same year, the duo finished 14th at the World Championships for Young Jumping Horses. For seven-year-olds, this stage often serves as a direct springboard to elite sport, as legendary horses like Clooney and Gazelle have proven in the past.
"Thank you for being a forever favorite, not just for me but for everyone who has had anything to do with you," Jessica Burke wrote. "Some horses are just that little bit more special and you are definitely one of them. (...) From traveling all over Europe to that incredible night in Bordeaux, to Saut Hermès (where they finished second in one of the major classes) and on to the World Cup Final in Texas, the last six months have been nothing short of the stuff dreams are made of."
