The pair returned to the Harrisburg Coliseum at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex on Saturday night, October 17, fresh off a win in Thursday’s $30,000 Desert International Horse Park 1.40m Welcome. This time, Coyle and the 10-year-old Oldenburg gelding, owned by Elan Farm, were one of eight entries from the 29-horse starting field to advance without fault to the Bernardo Costa Cabral-designed short course.

When they reentered the ring for the jump-off, the time to beat had been set 38.725 seconds by Filip de Wandel and Strongbeau, owned by Five Way Farm LLC – but Coyle was prepared to blow that time out of the water.

Just 31.758 seconds after they started, Coyle and Cordiamo crossed the finish line, and that time would ultimately hold up to give them the win by a margin of nearly four seconds. Sliding into second place with a time of 35.602 seconds were Gustavo Xavier Cortez and Action T, owned by Falkirk Farm LLC, while de Wandel and Strongbeau held on to third.

“I know he’s a fast horse,” said Coyle of Cordiamo, who Coyle has had since the gelding was 3 years old. “I was actually very tight back to the second jump. He’s not going to touch them. I did get lucky at the second to last. It was a little bit hairy there, but he was quite good again tonight.”

Coyle continued, “I think there is a big future with him for sure. He’s very careful; he’s very competitive. If I do a good job, I think he’ll jump five-star grand prix competitively.”
