This evening, the CSI5* program in Leipzig kicked off with a 1.45m course. In the speed class, Jur Vrieling ultimately delivered an unbeatable time with the 10-year-old Kannan JR (breeder: M.G. Kramer vd Meer). Together with the son of Cornet Obolensky, Vrieling jumped to victory in 56.42 seconds.
More than a second behind, Philipp Schulze Topphoff followed in the saddle of Corny M (Connor). The World Cup winner from Mechelen, Hans-Dieter Dreher, completed the top three riding the 10-year-old SF mare Forpleasure du Moulin (For Pleasure).
It turned out to be a German-Dutch showdown, with Maikel van der Vleuten finishing in fourth place. Riding his homebred AES mare, Elwikke (Eldorado vd Zeshoek), the Dutchman stayed ahead of Steve Guerdat, who competed with the 11-year-old Zangersheide mare, Emerine Z (Emerald).
