The London International Horse Show is almost over, but on Monday afternoon the Santa Speed Stakes still took centre stage. The international 1.50m speed class against the clock also counted for the Longines Ranking. And it was another win for the French Kevin Staut!
Victory went to France’s Kevin Staut with Kannonqulan (Kannan). The pair jumped clear and stopped the clock at 57.57 seconds.
Victor Bettendorf followed in second for Luxembourg with the Zangersheide mare Cancun Torel Z (Cosinhus). Bred by Francois-Xavier Guyard, she also crossed the line without penalties in 57.88 seconds.
Jessica Mendoza completed the podium for Great Britain, riding the Zangersheide gelding I-Cap CL Z (I M Special de Muze), bred by Alexander Liefsoens. They delivered a clear round in 58.24 seconds.
Just outside the top three, Matthew Sampson finished fourth with Ebolensky (Clinton) after a clear round in 58.86 seconds. Fifth place went to Hessel Hoekstra, who guided VDL Mindset Es (Aganix du Seigneur) to another faultless performance in 59.01 seconds, meaning the entire top five stayed clear and was decided on time.
