Last weekend, Lauranne Spits jumped to a Grand Prix victory in Liège—not with her trusted Parel, but with Sjefke van d'Abelendreef. This was notable, as it came shortly after the Belgian youth rider bade farewell to her top horse, Parel van 't Russeltveld.
Lauranne Spits last competed internationally with her 11-year-old mare by Lavallino ter Klomp (breeder: Dirk Duyssens) during the international youth show in Aachen in August. Together with the BWP mare, Spits competed up to an international 1.45m level.
Their record of achievements includes winning the CSI2* Gold Grand Prix in Oliva, victory in the CSIO Youth Nations Cup in Hagen, and a win in the 1.45m Youth Final in Lier. This year, the pair also landed on the podium with the Belgian youth team at the European Championship for Young Riders in Hagen.
Meanwhile, the mare has already made her debut with her new rider in the saddle. Parel will continue to represent Belgium under the saddle of Paulien Schepers.
