The Cavago Six Bar took place in London, an international power test in which the fences are raised round by round, putting stamina and technique at the centre of the competition. After several deciding rounds, the class remained wide open until the third jump-off.
Victory was ultimately shared by three combinations that made it through to jump-off 3 and were all recorded as winners in the official results. Only Max Kühner elected not to start in the third jump-off.
The deciding jump-off at 1.90m proved just too challenging for the remaining British combinations, as both Sebastian Hughes and John Whitaker were unable to clear it. As a result, the third place was shared by the three combinations still in contention: Britain’s Sebastian Hughes with Colorado Volo (Spartacus TN), John Whitaker with Sharid (Toulon), and Austria’s Max Kühner with EIC Cooley Jump the Q (Pacino).
Belgium’s best result came from Jos Verlooy. With Parise van den Dael (Zazu), he moved up to fourth place. Verlooy picked up four penalties in jump-off 2, which kept him just outside the top three. Marcus Ehning completed the top five. Riding Baloubets Rose Dree Boeken (Baloubet du Rouet), he had a refusal in the third round, which placed him fifth.
