A La Carte NRW was described by those around him as “a top athlete, a sire, and above all a horse with character,” a reputation echoed by his remarkable career. Under Marcus Ehning, he developed into an international performer with a distinctive style. His “impressive technique, unwavering attitude, and honest, fighting spirit” made him both a crowd favourite and a reliable partner at major shows.

His sporting résumé includes a long list of international achievements. He concluded his career with a win in Borken in 2023, but his record stretches back much further: victory in Madrid in 2019, second place in the Grand Prix of Amsterdam in 2020, an excellent win in Knokke in 2021, and several contributions to the German team during FEI Nations Cups, including Rotterdam. His second place in the Hickstead Nations Cup in 2022 and his bronze medal at the German Championships in Balve also stand among his most impressive results.

His impact as a sire is equally significant. His daughters have shone at elite inspections, with nine mares receiving a state premium. Nine sons were also approved. His influence is reflected in sport as well: numerous offspring are competing successfully at top level, confirming the strength of his genetic foundation. His daughter Askala NRW continues this legacy directly under Marcus Ehning, emerging as a sport horse that visibly carries her father’s qualities into the ring.

“Through his offspring, A La Carte NRW remains present – in sport, in the studbooks, and in the hearts of people,” the farewell message on Instagram reads. “We say goodbye to a very special stallion with an extraordinary personality.”

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire team behind A La Carte NRW.
