What a performance! The tension was palpable in the 1.55m CSI4* Andalucía Grand Prix in Vejer de la Frontera! Gerrit Nieberg couldn't repeat his previous success this time… Andres Vereecke was on the verge of victory, but he hadn't counted on Maverick van Lent!
In a jump-off featuring 10 combinations, Andres Vereecke held the lead for a long time. He was already tasting victory with his 12-year-old Zangersheide mare, Halima van het Bonte Hof Z (Hos d'O). However, Maverick van Lent had other plans! In the final moments, Van Lent managed to finish 0.4 seconds faster than Vereecke, securing the Grand Prix win.
Riding Haras de Laubry’s Forever du Givre (Vigo d'Arsouilles), Van Lent narrowly edged out Andres Vereecke! The Grand Prix podium was completed by Joao Victor Castro Aguiar Gomes de Lima, riding Nathan Budd’s former 14-year-old mount, Cashpaid J&F (Casall).
Just outside the top three, Gerrit Nieberg finished in fourth place with his 10-year-old BWP gelding, Ping Pong van de Lentamel (Emerald). The pair had won the Grand Prix events of the Sunshine Tour in the previous two weeks, but this time, they had to settle for fourth. Their performance pushed Victoria Gulliksen and Billy Etna (Billy Congo) to fifth place.
