This morning, the CSI5* competition kicked off in Riesenbeck. The opening class was held over a height of 1.45m and judged over two phases. The second phase proved to be extremely difficult, with no fewer than 18 pairs deciding to leave the course early.
The victory went to Ireland thanks to Neal Fearon riding Derryglen Obsidian (Kafka van de Heffinck). The pair posted an impressive time of 32.73 seconds. Annelies Vorsselmans jumped to second place for Belgium with Trezeguet (Turmalin) in a time of 33.52 seconds. Hannes Ahlmann (GER) chose to saddle Cayadino (Cayado) and took the bronze in 33.53 seconds.
Just off the podium was Elano de Laubry Z (Echo van 't Spieveld) under Yuri Mansur (BRA). They completed their course in 33.85 seconds, just ahead of Kevin Staut (FRA), who finished in fifth place. Staut competed on Vida Loca Z (Vigo d'Arsouilles) and claimed the last place in the top 5 in 34.23 seconds.
