Today, the Main Arena of the Dublin Horse Show was entirely dedicated to the battle for the Wylie Perpetual Trophy. The CSIO5* 1.50m class with jump-off brought the absolute world elite to the start, with riders needing to outsmart not only their competitors but also the clock. The home crowd was ultimately treated to a victory on Irish soil thanks to Niamh McEvoy.
The spectators got exactly what they came for: an Irish win. Niamh McEvoy guided her bay mare Flora du Mesnil (Copin van de Broy) faultlessly and at lightning speed through the jump-off, securing the win with a time of 35.75 seconds.
In second place came the best Dutch performance of the day: Willem Greve with the chestnut mare Pretty Woman van ’t Paradijs (Vigo d'Arsouilles), who also went clear and crossed the finish in 37.08 seconds, earning a solid share of the prize money. Third place went to Switzerland’s Jason Smith with Picobello van ’t Roosakker (Kassander van 't Roosakker), an impressive grey stallion, who, with 37.19 seconds, fell just short of the top two.
Irish talent Tom Wachman and his gelding Do It Easy (Vigo Cece) claimed fourth place with 37.33 seconds, while American veteran Laura Kraut, aboard Emeraldo 4 (Emerald Van 't Ruytershof), completed the top five with a jump-off time of 36.91 seconds.
