On Sunday, the final of the Longines EEF Nations Cup series will take center stage in Avenches, Switzerland. In today’s 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier, riders immediately competed against the clock. Pius Schwizer, who recently received the green light to return to competition, jumped straight to victory with Joan (I’M Special de Muze).
Schwizer and the 11-year-old KWPN mare, bred by B.A.W. Mensinck, finished more than two seconds ahead of fellow Swiss rider Evelyne Bussmann and the 16-year-old SF stallion Virtuoso Semilly (Diamant de Semilly). Hannes Ahlmann completed the top three, taking third place with Tokyo 4 (Toulon).
As the last rider to enter the ring, Jeroen Appelen claimed fourth place. With the 13-year-old gelding Dancing Wolf O.L. (Mylord Carthago), he finished just a few hundredths of a second behind Alexander Zetterman and Anakin AC (Corporal VDL).
