The German show jumpers have a new assistant national coach. The German outlet Spring Reiter reports that Ralf Runge will now assist Otto Becker. Ralf Runge replaces the previous assistant coach, Marcus Döring. Normally, Döring would have extended his new contract earlier this year, but that agreement was not fulfilled.
Ralf Runge, born in 1963, will now be responsible for the coaching and selection of the German U-25 riders and the EEF Nations Cup series. In the 1980s, he was himself a German champion and vice-European champion among the Young Riders, and until a few years ago, he was still actively competing with success.
Four years ago, he made his debut for the German equestrian federation (FN) as chef d'équipe during the EEF Nations Cup in Budapest, as Otto Becker was then busy preparing for the Tokyo Olympic Games. His conclusion at the time: "We don't need to worry about the future. This team is simply amazing. They are young but already very mature and can really ride well."
