On Saturday, the Highlands Cup CSI5* Grand Prix drew an enthusiastic crowd of spectators. Course designers Gregory Bodo (FRA) and Pieter Vitse (BEL) saw twelve combinations qualify for the jump-off. In the end, Rene Dittmer managed to edge out Gregory Wathelet for the win by the smallest of margins!
Riding Corsica X (Connor x Corofino II), Germany’s Rene Dittmer stopped the clock at 42.01 seconds to take victory. The pair finished just 0.15 seconds ahead of Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet with Ace Of Hearts (Aliandro B x Ra). Earlier that same day, Wathelet had already placed in the 1.45m CSI5* class, finishing seventh aboard Argentina de la Marchette (Acajou de la Marchette x Del Piero P&B), bred by Hubert Wathelet.
In the 1.60m Grand Prix, the podium was completed by Shane Sweetnam riding James Kann Cruz (Kannan GFE x Cruising).
The Irish rider was followed by Canada’s Erynn Ballard, who took fourth place with Fave d’Authuit (Cornet Obolensky x Kannan GFE), finishing more than a second ahead of Conor Swail and Clonterm Obolensky (Cornet Obolensky x Lux Z).
