World No. 1 Richard Vogel delivered a masterclass performance to claim victory in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Grand Prix of Verona. Guiding the 10-year-old stallion Gangster Montdesir to a blisteringly fast clear round in the jump-off, the German rider proved unstoppable in Italy.
In a tense jump-off featuring the world's finest combinations, Vogel and Gangster Montdesir (by Kannan x Cornet Obolensky), bred by Haras Montdesir, produced a lightning-fast round, stopping the clock at an unbeatable 33.02 seconds. Vogel’s blistering pace left the rest of the field chasing shadows, securing the top spot over three seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.
Second place went to fellow German rider Tom Schewe aboard Congress Blue PS (by Congress x Chacco Blue), bred by Gestüt Lewitz. Schewe turned in a precise performance to finish clear in 36.87 seconds. France's Simon Delestre rounded out the podium in third place with Gatsby du Tillard (by President x Diamant de Semilly), bred by B. Lejeune, crossing the finish line in a time of 39.83 seconds.
Sweden’s Henrik von Eckermann took fourth place riding Minute Man (by Vigo d'Arsouilles STX x Montender), navigating the jump-off clear in 41.02 seconds. Austria's Max Kühner finished fifth with Vivo de Muze PS (by Vivant x Loro Piana Filou de Muze) after putting a clear round of 43.11 seconds on the scoreboard.
Daniel Deusser of Germany posted the second-fastest time of the jump-off aboard Otello de Guldenboom (by Tobago Z x Caretino) in 34.85 seconds, but four penalty points dropped the combination to sixth position overall.
