Scott Brash and the 17-year-old BWP son of Cooper van de Heffinck sped to the win in 40.11 seconds. The pair finished just under the time of Victor Bettendorf and the 12-year-old SF mare, Encore Toi du Linon (Kannan). Riding Chageorge (Chacco-Blue), French rider Lara Tryba secured an international top-three finish.

On Friday, Gilles Thomas had already placed at the top of the individual rankings in the Global Champions League. In the saddle of the BWP stallion Riesling van 't Roosakker (Comme Il Faut), bred by Marc Kluskens, the Belgian jumped to fourth place this time. The duo remained clear ahead of Kim Emmen and the Lieven Baten-bred Quando van het Hellehof (Nabab de Rêve).

“When you’re on Jefferson you know you’ve always got a chance,” said Brash. “He’s been a remarkable horse for me, and on top of his experience he just loves his job - he wants to win and he wants to go again next week… he’s been an incredible horse for me.”

And for Brash, winning in front of a London crowd made the moment all the more special. “It’s amazing here, I’ve said it before and I'll say it again - there’s nowhere like London. The crowd get behind all us British riders and we are very grateful!”
