Irish show jumper Paul O'Shea has announced the retirement from sport of the 18-year-old gelding, Imerald van 't Voorhof (Emerald x Bacardi Orange de Muze). The gelding was raised by Belgian breeder Frans Voeten and will enjoy his retirement starting next month.
O'Shea formed a duo with the gelding for the past nine years. The pair caught the spotlight in Calgary, Dublin, Hickstead, Ocala, Wellington, and Lexington, among others.
"A happy 18th birthday," the Irish show jumper shares. "At the beginning of June, Imerald will travel to the Upperville Show for the Grand Prix, after which he will enjoy his retirement from sport at Trish Hurter's Stoneleigh Farm. Over the past nine years, Imerald has been an incredible partner. I want to thank the owners for trusting me with such a top horse."
