Stallion Contendro I passed away

GFE has announced the passing away of major stallion, Contendro. Aged 27-years-old this exceptional stallion passed away. Contendro was the only stallion

He was the world's number 1 sire of eventing winners for four consecutive years and is the father of the 2024 Olympic champion Chipmunk with M. Jung and of Contendros 2, finalist in show jumping in Paris with A. Azcarraga!

He has appeared several times in the world's top 10 sires of show jumping winners thanks to great champions such as Codex One (GP Aix la Chapelle), Borsato, Conthendrix, and CINSEY, who became his stablemate at Saint-Lô, just like Hereos Kervec, who recently finished 5th in the World Championships for 7-year-olds in Lanaken, or Herisson Quill, who brought joy to his breeder and trainers before flying to the prestigious Cian O'Connor stable.

Having arrived in France 12 years ago, he leaves behind a numerous and high-quality progeny that has allowed him to consistently rank among the best young horse sires in addition to his regularity in the international winners' rankings.

Behind this impressive record was an extremely endearing horse, with a rare gentleness and sensitivity that marked those who cared for him every day. From his first groom, Helmut Klein, who came to visit him every year from Germany, to the Saint-Lô Stud team, Adrien, Raphael, Camille, and all the others, of whom he was a bit of a favorite with his box right next to the offices. He is the first world number 1 stallion to have been present at Saint-Lô, the first father of an Olympic champion... he marked his time in Germany before continuing at Saint-Lô and in France!
