This week marks the debut of the Longines Global Champions Tour in Cairo, Egypt. Set against the backdrop of the iconic Pyramids of Giza, a total of 1.75 million Euros in prize money will be awarded.
Abdel Saïd (BEL) will also be competing in Cairo as the current leader of the LGCT Ranking. Saïd won the latest Grand Prix of Jan Tops' tour. Saïd, who is originally Egyptian, will face former Grand Prix winners such as double LGCT champion Ben Maher (GBR), Christian Kukuk (GER), etc.
Representing the host country, Nayel Nassar, Sameh El Dahan, Mouda Zeyada, and Isamel Osama El Borai will be competing. Earlier, Nassar seemed thrilled about the arrival of the CSI5* event in his home country. "Really fantastic, I never expected a five-star competition to be organized on Egyptian soil. It clearly shows which direction the sport is taking in Egypt and the efforts our federation is making to grow show jumping. The location is breathtaking... I'm really looking forward to it!"
Belgium is also strongly represented. In addition to Abdel Saïd, Niels Bruynseels, Olivier Philippaerts, Pieter Devos, Thibault Philippaerts, Thibeau Spits, and Zoe Conter will be competing.
