The Global Champions League attracted many spectators to the beach in St. Tropez... In this team competition, Valkenswaard United – with Gilles Thomas and Hans-Dieter Dreher – claimed the victory!
Gilles Thomas and Qalista DN (by Emerald) competed twice. “The horses are going well, and I’m just super happy to have so many great horses reserved for sport,” said Gilles Thomas. “Qalista is really progressing at this level. She gave me such a great feeling that I decided to start her again in the second round.”
Hans-Dieter Dreher had two strong contenders. “Both of my horses performed really well!” Dreher remained faultless with both Elysium (by VDL Zirocco Blue) and Vestmalle des Cotis (by Baloubet du Rouet). “The second round was built tough. It was quite technical, and you had to stay focused the entire time!”
Valkenswaard thus confirms their strong form again, after performances in places like Shanghai. “There are some changes on the agenda, but I can’t say anything about that yet,” said the Belgian champion. “But the team will likely stay as it is!”
In St. Tropez, the duo stayed ahead of the Cannes Stars. Competing for them were Natalie Dean, Katrin Eckermann, and Anastasia Nielsen. Nielsen rode in the first round with the 11-year-old Messenger son, My Bravo Boy PS. Katrin Eckermann competed twice. With both Chao Lee (by Comme Il Faut) and Iron Dames Cala Mandia NRW (by Capistrano), the rider went clear. Natalie Dean and her 12-year-old Toulon mare also finished without touching a pole.
Riesenbeck International completed the top three!
